Why Objects Matter

I've often said that the objects we choose to surround ourselves with become quiet declarations of who we are.

Furniture, jewellery, paintings and everyday objects do far more than perform a function—they shape our memories, influence our emotions and carry the values of the cultures that produced them. This belief continues to underpin every project I undertake, from public installations to intimate works for the home.

It's one of the reasons I describe my practice as creating intimate architectures.
